Title Development
We have produced a social realism film trailer hybridised with
sports, within the production I created the titles for the trailer, before
producing it I researched a variety of existing film trailer titles. When producing
this I chose to create this through using the software called 'Adobe After
Effects', this is software which allows producers to manipulate different visual
media such as videos and texts. When first producing the titles we came up with
the idea of having a moving background instead of a steal background whist the
titles are being presented, we thought best that we should chose a time lapse,
as this challenges common social realism conventions, we then chose specific
locations to film the time lapse so that we can have establishing shots so that
the audience could be able to identify key land sites within London. When
getting these footage I put the time lapse on the After Effects, so that I
could be able to edit it and then place in the titles that I wanted, I chose to
go to the website called 'Dafont.com', this is a site in which allows us to
browse and download a variety of different fonts, I chose to go with Myriad Pro
in Bold, we believe that this font meets with the conventions that we wanted as
when we researched other media texts, they were similar. After producing the
titles I chose to manipulate the colour so that each first letter has red, this
is so that we could be able to stick to the same colour palette through all
media texts that we have produced so that we could stick with the same theme so
that the audience could be able to identify our products. After producing the
titles I inserted it into the trailer which on the software called ‘Magix’ the
titles finalise the trailer so that the audience could have a better
understanding of the film without narrations.

Time Lapse
In our trailer we decided to some time lapse footage. The footage would act as the background for the titles.
We had to contact some one who had the equipment required to film the footage. Once we found some one we had to go out and film the shots we wanted.
This is a list of the camera we used to film and the software used to edit the footage.
Hardware:
Canon EOS 5D-MkII
Canon EOS 7D

Soundtrack
Due to the low budgets within the social realist film sector, some British production companies will typically focus on real life issues, such as sex, drugs, violence and or a journey from the bottom to the top, with them hoping that these issues are appealing to a local audience. As they might be able to relate to some
of the issues raised during the film, for example Fast Girls(2012) show the journey
of a young ambitious female protagonist who is trying to make her life better and
uses athletics as the outlet in doing so. The choice of music genres are
justified by the stock characters included within British Social Realist films;
conventionally, we see the inclusion of stereotypes such as 'chav's, misfits,
gang members etc. Rap culture is usually associated with gang's; if a
production company incorporates music linked with stereotypes, they can build a
image for a character and 'hook' the audience. House music is relative to
drug culture, further conforming to the representation of 'social realism'
themes and increasing character imagery. These music types also appeal to a
young audience who are, conveniently, the intended consumer for
'social realism' films. We can see one of the genres used above with Adulthood(2008) which is well acclaimed British 'social realist' films.
No Lay is a UK rap/hip hop artist /singer whose music is used within the production 'Adulthood'. The UK rap/hip hop music conforms to the stereotypical representation of being 'gang related'. The song title could also be relative to the plot within the film, building an image of the hard life led by Adam Deacon and Noel Clarke's characters respectively living on a council estate.

CASTING

We have decided that our protagonist will be played by me (Sean Oyebanjo), There are many reasons why we have opted for this as a group. Firstly we are obviously going to be heavily reliant on our protagonist when we are recording scenes as he will be in nearly every scene. Therefore we need someone who we can rely on, and as it is coming up to christmas and there are mock exams also coming up a lot of our prospective actors are going to be very busy revising and doing academic activities.
As a result we have decided that I will take on the main role because not only will I be available but more importantly I have a vision on how the character should be portrayed and I think it will be easier for me to portray the character than another actor.
Also I am currently studying Drama and so I have experience in acting, this should help me as I should have the required skills/knowledge to portray the character effectively.
On the right and left are some shots we have taken of my character's two main costumes. We plan to emphasise the fact that he has a drastic change from being a fashionable young man(Figure 1) to becoming a stereotypical representation of young black men in London(Figure 2).

Furthermore we have also casted our second main character (Lorenzo). In our trailer Lorenzo plays a key role as the story revolves around him. As a result he will be needed for many shots as well and so we needed someone who we could rely on . For the same aforementioned reasons , we have decided to go for someone from our group just because it makes filming a lot easier to manager and control. As a group we decided that our Audio Engineer (Enzo) will play the character of Lorenzo because we believe he will suit the role. Figure 3 shows Enzo in his costume

Finally we wanted to all be involved in acting and so our cameraman, who will obviously be recording most of the scenes will still have a role. He will play one of the people who Sean sells drugs to. The reason why we have chose to cast our Cameraman is because we believe he will suit the role and it allows us all to be involved in the trailer, in terms of acting. Costume Design
The costume design
is an important feature throughout our film trailer, as judgement can be made, which
the character is be judge on how much money they own or if it is their
personality. This typically links to their socio-economic background usually being lower working class or C2-E, so they won't have the finer things in life. The visual aesthetic of our characters will create a reflection on
their individual identity, whether it be through stereotypes, for example young
black males are often seen to be affiliated with gangs and violence. Through the
use of costumes, we'll be able to follow this convention and creating individual
stereotypes for our two main protagonists.
Sean will be represent as streetwise young adult male, we
will be dressing him in well-known brands; this could include popular retail
shops like H&M or sporting brands such as Nike. Our trailer will be showing
Sean in a verity of costumes which will contrast both the style and nature of him and Lorenzo; there will be a juxtaposition between a lack of care and he who possesses concern. We feel that our audience will easily relate to Sean, and therefore gain further interest within the trailer/film itself.
Lorenzo's costume will be quite simple with him wearing dark, fitted jumpers and jeans, as we want to create the impression that this character is conscious about their appearance but doesn't really pay attention to brands than Sean. By utilising a dark colours, connotations of Lorenzo's bad persona will be created, although not all of Lorenzo costumes will not directly reflect this, but still very stereotypical to his persona and the costume will represent this.

New Plot
Okay so as we have changed our idea, we have also decided to give you an update on our new plot:
Lorenzo and Sean are prospective 100m sprinters who have dreamed of competing in the 2016 Olympics there whole life. They extensively train each other in order to better themselves, however Lorenzo takes the wrong path and resorts to selling drugs and violence etc. During this time Sean continues his training with his new coach however it doesn't feel the same. The challenge is to see whether Enzo can bring himself back and whether Sean can improve himself without the assistance of his best mate

Change
CHANGE FOR THE BETTER
???
We have decided to completely change our idea. After a bit of analysis of our blog and our ideas, we felt that our film was at risk of becoming too similar to Shifty. In addition we felt that our character did not have a way out and this was one of the key connotations of the social-realist genre films that we found through our trailer.
As a result we have decided to focus our new trailer on athletics. This is because the London 2012 Olympics was obviously a big thing for Londoner's especially East Londoners such as ourselves. In addition we felt that people were more interested in athletics as a result of the London 2012 Olympics and so we want to appeal to this audience.
OUR NEW PLOT
Two best friends (Lorenzo and Sean) share a dream of competing at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. They both come from urban areas within London. However Sean avoided the conflicts around him such as drugs , gangs and violence (which are stereotypical of London Youths) whereas Enzo got drafted into smoking and the his dream represents his chance to escape. However Sean gets caught with Lorenzo's girlfriend and they now become rivals chasing the same dream.

Synopsis
This is the synopsis of our film :
We still have not came up with a definite title but we do have our plot complete
After the death of his best friend Lorenzo, Sean is faced with a tough challenge. He has 72 hours to give the gang (who he thinks killed Lorenzo) £2,500 Cash or he faces the same fate as Lorenzo.
In order to acquire this cash he turns to a life of drugs , which involves one big deal destined to go wrong. The irony of the fact that he is turning to drugs is that , in order to try and save his life he must risk it even further.

Title development
First idea of titles of trailer
As I am developing the titles for our trailer, I have constructed different texts and backgrounds for those, so I could review a variety of different shots that could represent the affect that we need from the genre of which the movie is based upon. I chose to do this as researching through real existing media content I discovered titles that I liked, this was from the movie trailer 'Adulthood'. I liked this as I believed that it worked as it showed the aspects of the trailer as a effected still image.
I then wanted to develop this instead of keeping an still image, I then thought about having a time lapse background whilst the titles are being presented.this is because I believe that it is more attractive and looks more professional. With doing this I am challenging common conventions of social realism films as it is not basic. After creating the titles we displayed our trailer to selected audience, for us to collect their opinions and so I could reinforce their comments to improve on it.

Title development
I have been researching titles throughout different social realism movie trailers, this is to show we could see the conventions which are normally used within titles to relate to the movie.
This is from Adulthood trailer, this is a good title to go with the movie as it is a serif bold font. the colour pallet for this title matches the background which allows the screen shot to look nice.
this font is effective as it displays a establishing shot to allow the audience to recognise that the movie is a urban movie as the shot is a long shot and the font supports this as it is a graffiti type of effect to represent this.
This font is bold and take up most of the frame to allow the audience to read the sentence and to allow them to take in the real meaning of what the movie trailer is trying to represent.

I am currently working on Adobe After Effects to create the best title that could be made for our movie trailer. This title is in the making, in which i could develop it further to meet the conventions and to use movement for when the trailer is playing so that it could appeal to the audience as it will be more entertaining.

Title questionnaire
As a movie we have researched the most suitable title that corresponds
with the movie’s plot. We have gone with the final name to become ‘Switch’. This
is so that it could expand upon the target audience and to widen the plot. The previous
title that we thought about was called ‘E.20’. We believe this will result of
us having a very niche target audience, as this would narrow down our target
audience to only East London viewers. From changes the name title to switch it
could allow the movie to have a higher percentage of becoming a mainstream
movie if successful. Before making an assumption I have constructed an questionnaire,
consisting of two questions. This allowed us to gather the target audience’s
opinions on the title ‘Switch’. From gathering this we would be able to know
what the target audience feel about the movie title. I have given the questionnaire
randomly to people from all ages to gather opinions from all different perspectives.
I made sure that it was a qualitative questionnaire, this is so that we could
get an detailed answer as this is important question for us to know. These are
examples of what the audience answered from my questionnaire
Title research
We have chosen to choose our titles to be
serif fonts for the movie. This is because it relates to genre as it is bold
and has a design to it, this relates to the genre as social realism movies are
seen to be bold and straight to point as it is real life based stories. The
font also relates to our characters as they are drug dealers which bold serif
fonts demonstrates that type of effect.

Aidem Productions Animated Storyboard 1
Today we finalised our first animated storyboard. It is very short and we have used rough images from online but we hope it will help us when filming as it will allow us to know what shots we need. As well as providing us with an idea of timing for our shots. We also added our soundtrack to see how it fitted with the storyboard and we like it because the lyrics suit the storyboard/storyline in a way

Production Logo
A production logo is very important for a film company as it is what makes the recognisable.
From our research we found that most production companies had a clear and simple logo with something that made them stand out. Take a look at the images below for example:
Here is our first proposed company logo. We liked this logo because it was simple , clear and recognisable which is what we said our logo needed to be upon reflecting on our research . It was recognisable because of the use of an old film reel image. However upon reflection and discussion with our classmates we realised that this was also the problem. Our film company is meant to be modern and a film reel is certainly not that. We then thought about replacing it with an image of a dvd/cd which is more modern however it just did not have the same effect
From our research we found that most production companies had a clear and simple logo with something that made them stand out. Take a look at the images below for example:
![]() |
The Lion on this logo is instantly recognisable

The Typography is shaped around a building which makes it instantly recognisable

The mountain and the stars are what makes this logo stand out and recognisaable

The Castle and unique Serif typography helps this logo to be instantly recognisable
So from our research we then realised that we needed to have something to make our logo stand out but it also need to be clear and simple and relative to our company.

As a result we then decided to scrap that idea and go for something completely different.
This was the resulting production logo:
We liked this for 3 main reasons:
> It is very modern and stylized
> It is unique which is what we as a production company strive for
> It is instantly recognisable for viewers
