Costume Design

The costume design is an important feature throughout our film trailer, as judgement can be made, which the character is be judge on how much money they own or if it is their personality. This typically links to their socio-economic background usually being lower working class or C2-E, so they won't have the finer things in life. The visual aesthetic of our characters will create a reflection on their individual identity, whether it be through stereotypes, for example young black males are often seen to be affiliated with gangs and violence. Through the use of costumes, we'll be able to follow this convention and creating individual stereotypes for our two main protagonists.

Sean will be represent as streetwise young adult male, we will be dressing him in well-known brands; this could include popular retail shops like H&M or sporting brands such as Nike. Our trailer will be showing Sean in a verity of costumes which will contrast both the style and nature of him and Lorenzo; there will be a juxtaposition between a lack of care and he who possesses concern. We feel that our audience will easily relate to Sean, and therefore gain further interest within the trailer/film itself.

Lorenzo's costume will be quite simple with him wearing dark, fitted jumpers and jeans, as we want to create the impression that this character is conscious about their appearance but doesn't really pay attention to brands than Sean. By utilising a dark colours, connotations of Lorenzo's bad persona will be created, although not all of Lorenzo costumes will not directly reflect this, but still very stereotypical to his persona and the costume will represent this.
